CECAA: A Profile
CECAA is a source of support for the thousands of people living in poverty in Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson, and Lincoln Counties.
The majority of CECAA's clients are extremely poor. Nearly 40% of the families served have incomes below 75% of the federal poverty threshold - $18,530 for a family of 3 in 2011 (the average family size for the client population). Through funds received through the Community Services Block Grant, CECAA is able to assist clients who are at or below 125% of the poverty level. Funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment act allow our agency to assist clients who are at or below 200% of the poverty level with employment readiness.

Who We Are
We are a non-profit organization created in January, 1980, funded under the Community Services Block Grant Act to combat poverty in geographically designated areas. Status as a Community Action Agency is the result of an explicit designation by local and state government. It has a tripartite board structure that is designated to promote the participation of the entire community in the reduction or elimination of poverty. CECAA seeks to involve the entire community, including elected public officials, private sector representatives, and especially low-income residents, in assessing local needs and attacking the conditions of poverty.
Colorado East Community Action Agency is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
CECAA is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in employment and personnel practices on the basis of race, sex, age, handicap, religion, national origin, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.
